Tour Diary / Wirksworth - Sheffield - Norwich
Hello !
After an immense week of live shows, Chris & I have returned from our string of dates in the North & the Midlands. We had a really incredible time & met some beautiful people along the way. To everybody who made it out to our shows, it was a real pleasure and I hope we can meet again down the line.
I also want to say a huge thank you to Paul Armfield for welcoming us onto his tour, as we joined him in Sheffield & Norwich. It was very special to join Paul for these shows & I walked away feeling really quite inspired watching such a seasoned musician do his thing.
Other thank you’s are due to Jo Fitchew & her husband at The Feather Star - we absolutely loved our headline show with you guys. Our engineer, Phil, did such a great job looking after us. The Feather Star is a gem of a venue in the Midlands & I really hope to return down the line ! Bob King opened the night for us and it was a pleasure to meet you & watch your performance, Bob.
Thank you to the amazing Jonny at Cafe No.9 in Sheffield - yet another stunning venue which sounded just perfect on stage. It was a privilege to join you on Thursday evening. Thank you also to Phil & Michaela who gave us a bed for the night in Sheffield - two of the most open-hearted, kind humans I’ve had the pleasure to meet. Chris & I spent the night after our Sheffield gig jamming with Phil on his mandolin, into the early hours of the morning. We were also lucky enough to be given a tour of Michaela’s beautiful allotment the next day.
Also thank you to Tom & Simon at The Holloway in Norwich - as well as Pitchy who managed our sound for the evening. We salute you !
We spent time hiking in the peak district, covering many miles on foot as well as meeting so many amazing people. One person I feel very grateful to have met is Rob Hodgson, a Luthier who lives in Derbyshire. Rob came to our headline show in Wirksworth and we got chatting after we played. He invited us to his workshop the next morning, where I had the pleasure of playing a number of different guitars he has crafted over the years. Rob’s friendly face appeared later in Sheffield to come and see our next show.
It really was lovely to meet you, Rob.
Thanks again to everybody who came to watch us last week. We will indeed be returning - more on that down the line !
I have plenty of shows coming up - namely, a gig at The Portland Arms in Cambridge (Thursday 29th May) supporting Eliza Delf & The Wilderness.
